Cheri’s education in the field of addiction and recovery, together with her personal experience of abuse, neglect, and addiction, and her own journey into recovery, give her a deep understanding and passion for those at risk. She has dedicated her life to this ministry and has brought God’s healing touch to thousands.
In her training in the nursing and mental health field, Cheri specialized in socialization and running addiction recovery groups – teaching life skills and helping people learn how to interact with each other. She worked for fifteen years doing inpatient psychiatric nursing in private and state facilities.
In 1994 Cheri founded True Step Ministries. Since then she has been speaking around the world to audiences in prisons, schools, churches, rehab centers, and other venues seeking to awaken hope for your own healing and awareness of your privilege to help the next person stand up. She personally coaches dozens of people on addiction and recovery every year.
Cheri is the host for Crossroads, a radio program where she and her guests address issues of dysfunction and addiction. Since 2004, she has also hosted the popular television program, Celebrating Life in Recovery. She is the author of the Celebrating Life in Recovery 14-week recovery program as well as three published books: Miracle From the Streets, God is Crazy About You, and Steps to Christ, Recovery Edition, and co-author of the soon-to-be-published Skips to Jesus – a picture book version of Steps to Christ for kids.

This included developing a Worthy Student Award that provided new instruments to students who could not afford them. Brad has also taught at Boise State University and Northwest Nazarene University.
Brad and Cheri have a beautiful daughter, Jaci, and son-in-law, Michael.
Kathleen is a seasoned bookkeeper with 30 years experience. She has handled True Step’s books since the early years of this ministry. She is deeply committed to serving you.
Born into a non-believing family with no teaching of God, her heart sought truth and found it in the “coffee table” Bible in her family living room. She found everlasting life to be the answer to her childhood fears. At the age of 10, she began attending church with her neighbors, and she never looked back.
When she’s not busy keeping this ministry in order, Kathleen enjoys life filled with music and family. She is a vocalist and a long-standing member of the Boise Philharmonic Master Chorale and Opera Idaho. She has been married for nearly 30 years and is a proud mother of three and grandmother of three.
