Hello! My name is Cheri Peters and True Step is my ministry for addiction recovery. I come from a pretty crazy background, as I was the second child to parents that were still in their teens. Born in to a life of incredible abuse, it was better to leave home than stay so I was homeless on the streets of Los Angeles for 10 years. Caught up in a life of survival I became involved with drugs and much more.  However at 23 (fairly illiterate), my life turned around. It sounds trite to say I had a spiritual experience and everything changed but that’s exactly what happened. I felt the presence of God during a suicide attempt and He convinced me that my life was worth living.  (to hear the rest of the story, get Cheri’s book Miracle from the Streets, available through our store)

God has put a burden on me to help people of all ages who have lost sight of the meaning of love in their lives, and have accepted the delusions of Satan. To this I have committed my life. And for this reason True Step Ministries, Inc. exists. It all got started while sitting in church and someone asked me if I would share my testimony on how I came to know God. I was hesitant. If they found out my true background, would they want me in their church? But the request kept coming, so I shared with my congregation how I came to know our Savior. After that more requests to hear my story came. I was surprised, “why would anyone want to hear the lurid details of my past?” Then I realized, it was not those awful experiences that people were focusing on, it was the testimony of the power of God to reach down to those whom Satan had chained to his will, and God had set free. Praise God!

Thanks to the folks at Pacific Press my story was published. One thing led to another and True Step Ministries was founded.  God has grown this effort and now we reach those in need across the globe.  Please consider joining us in spreading the healing and saving word of the Gospel.
