About Cheri

Hello! My name is Cheri Peters and True Step is a ministry for recovery, from whatever you may be struggling with. I come from a pretty crazy background myself, as I was the second child to parents that were only 13 and 15 years old. Born into a life of incredible abuse, it was better to leave home than to stay, so I ended up on the streets of Los Angeles, homeless for the next 10 years. Caught up in a life of survival I became involved with drugs and much more. However at 23 (fairly illiterate), my life turned around. It may sound trite to say I had a spiritual experience and everything changed but that’s exactly what happened. I felt the presence of God during a suicide attempt and He convinced me that my life was worth living and everything changed! True Step Ministries

Once in recovery I was asked to tell my story at church. I was hesitant, but God led me to risk it. By the end of the day I realized it was not about my story at all, but about God’s ability to change lives. This led to an offer from Pacific Press to publish His story of my life, and in no time True Step Ministries was founded. God has grown this effort and now we bring the message of hope and grace offered through recovery to those in need around the world. Through 3ABN Broadcasting Cheri hosts “Celebrating Life in Recovery”, a television program and “Crossroads” on radio. These programs cover almost any issue you can think of and the healing you can have through God. Cheri has worked with organizations in Australia, New Zealand, Thailand, Russia, The Czech Republic, England, The West Indies, Canada, Kenya, and almost every state in the US including Alaska. She has shared her story at Jails, Prisons, Juvenile Facilities and Rehab Centers. She as presented at Camp Meetings, Youth Events, and schools from Elementary through Collegiate level. Frequent appearances also include Churches, Woman’s Retreats, Businesses as well as individual interventions.
